Job responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on topics related to DevOps
  • Implement open source software solutions, and contribute back to the community
  • Develop “infrastructure as code” solutions; lead efforts to migrate from all physical hardware for all environments, while achieving business goals for reliability and customer satisfaction
  • Drive process improvements throughout the project cycle and release process, encouraging standardization, consistency, repeatability, and predictability
  • Coordinate and assist real-time monitoring to ensure stability of SmashFly software systems
  • Strive for automation and self-service in all we do
  • Integrate security tools and processes as needed

The skills you should have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of experience as an engineer working on related disciplines, such as System Administrator, Systems Engineer, and Release Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience with key skills such as source code management, continuous integration and deployment, and system monitoring

  • Understanding of information security concepts and methodology
  • Demonstrate and practice strong and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working closely with technical engineers and developers
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; able to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and ability to learn
  • Proficient in agile/scrum methodologies
  • Industry certifications such as MCSE and AWS are preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with tools being used by SmashFly is preferred, but not required; we are open to evaluating tools to ensure we have the right ones for the job. Currently, we are using technology such as git, Redis, Node, Angular, .NET, SQL Server, Azure, Release Management, VSTS, Chef, and Jenkins.
