A personal intro
For the past 5+ years I have been working on the Vacation Rentals product at TripAdvisor, growing it from a small startup within the company to a global product spanning multiple brands (TripAdvisor, Flipkey, HolidayLettings and Niumba) with over 800k property listings and over 10 million unique visitors each month. Before that I worked at Monster on the employer product line for 3.5 years, and at BrassRing (now IBM/Kenexa) for 7 years. I'm excited to return to my first love: recruitment technology! I am originally from Southern California, and I live in nearby Maynard, MA with my husband and two boys (aged 6 and 9). I am looking forward to biking to work in the spring.
Favorite off-the-grid activity
When I am not working or playing computer games with my kids, I practice and teach Square Foot Gardening on my suburban micro-farm. Since agriculture is not usually welcome in a neighborhood setting, I try to incorporate fruits and vegetables (and chickens) into the landscape in an attractive way. I've also challenged myself to generate one ton of food from my third of an acre lot, which I'm on track to beat next year when my espaliered fruit trees, blueberries and kiwi arbor mature.
Grapefruit Mimosas are my new favorite drink.
A little-known fact about Amber
In my semester abroad I studied Flamenco dance in Spain and for my final project I got to perform with a live guitarist in the Albaicin in Granada, facing the Alhambra. Also, I only just learned how to swim properly (freestyle) last year.
Why Amber elected to join SmashFly and how Amber plans to assist in our mission
I'm excited to join the product team to help make a great product even better!
Amber's favorite thing about Product Management and the associated role
My favorite thing about Product Management is that I'm solving problems for our customers, and that I get to work with nearly all the teams in the company to build a successful product.
